Critigen, CyArk and National Park Service Provide “History for the iPod Generation”

Posted: 2/1/2010

DENVER - February 1, 2010 – Critigen, a global technology consultancy for critical infrastructure, in conjunction with the National Park Service and CyArk, has completed field work on the San Antonio Mission project – a project that involves the digital documentation of four of the Missions of San Antonio as well as the oldest continually used aqueduct in North America.

The San Antonio Missions digital preservation project provides a three-dimensional, digital model capable of recreating built surfaces with an accuracy of less than 1 centimeter. The digital archives are so detailed and accurate that the Texas Board of Education is considering using it in its high school history curriculums. “What we’re creating here is history for the iPod generation,” said John Brown, Critigen’s senior 3DLS practice leader.

Critigen boasts the world’s largest, private geospatial consultancy and most often leverages its expertise to fuse location-based data with business information to provide a powerful capability for solving business problems. It’s a burgeoning business sector; in fact global spending on SIM services is expected to reach $14 billion by 2011.
