Health Indicators App
Health Indicators is an easy-to-use dashboard app that transforms complex health data into geographically relevant, timely, and navigable information. Health care executives and professionals can view various health-related Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on a single screen in an intuitive map-based interface. The app facilitates rapid analysis by presenting graphical views of data that can be drilled into by geography or sub-measure for detailed quantitative data. Executives can also use the app to visually identify data reporting issues, find gaps in geographical coverage, assess data quality and gauge the overall usefulness of the information for improving the health of their communities.
Health Indicators provides visual insight into six broad areas of community health:
- Do babies get a good start in life?
- What factors influence a healthy lifestyle?
- How well are people managing diseases and specific fatal health risks?
- Do people engage in available health prevention programs?
- How adequate are basic health resources?
- How do people pay for health care?

Community Health Status Indicators
The health indicator data used in the Health Indicators app has been made available by the Community Health Status Project Working Group, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), and Washington, D.C. The Community Health Status Indicators (CHSI) dataset is one of the most comprehensive collections of nationally available health indicators and is intended to be used by local communities in their assessment and planning activities for improving community health. CHSI data used in this app was obtained from DHHS via the Community Health Status Indicators website. Additional processing of this dataset was performed to allow for easily displaying the information contained in the original dataset. Please visit DHHS’s website to obtain the original dataset.
